I’m Having a Great Time with My Parents in a New Place

I moved with my parents to another country when I was just 17. It has been a lot of fun, but I have also worried about what I would do after I graduated from high school while living here. As soon as I graduated, dad told me that I needed to find work, so I became employed by a company that offers regular cleaning services in Singapore to rental companies. It keeps me busy and I can handle the work easily. I really enjoy being able to save most of my money so that I can put it toward my future college degree. My dad is really pleased that I am keeping busy and being proactive about saving for college.

When my parents first told me that we were moving, I was devastated. I had made so many new friends in school, and I really did not want to leave them. I also have a best friend who I have been friends with since elementary school. I wondered if I would ever see her again. My father explained that his job overseas would only be for 3 years. He told me that I was too young to stay back in the US without my them being with me. Both sets of my grandparents have passed away, so staying with them was not possible. Neither one of my parents were comfortable with the thought of me staying with a friend’s parents while my own parents were away.

At some pointed, I resigned myself to the fact that we would be moving. I was excited, but I was also scared because I did not know what teens in Singapore would be like. However, the first week that I went to school there, I made lots of new friends. All the other students are so friendly. Everyone was helpful and knew that I might be scared. I was only there at that school for one year before I graduated.
